Open your database with "Instant Web Publishing (IWP)"

  1. In order to access your database we need to direct your browser to where this database lives. You can find out the name of our FileMaker Server that your database is hosted on in your welcome email or in the product detail section of our client portal area.

  2. In your browser, copy and paste the FileMaker Server Name in the address bar and select enter. 

  3. You will be directed to a login screen with the option to login with your FileMaker credentials. Enter the account name and password that you created in the FileMaker security settings for your databases. *If you are presented with an error message please review the steps at the end of this article*

  4. Once you are logged in you will be shown all of the databases that your account name has access to. Click the name of the database to open.

  5. You will then be presented with your database through Instant Web Publishing (IWP)!

Troubleshooting Login Error

If your intitial attempt to login was unsuccessful it is most likely because your user credentials do not have the correct permissions selected in your database to access Instant Web Publishing (IWP) and you would be receiving an error message during login like this one:

Follow these steps to troubleshoot for access to IWP: 


  1. In FileMaker, go to the File Menu > Manage > Security.

  2. You will be presented with a list of the different users that are associated with this database. Make a note of the privilege set name of the user that you are wanting to allow IWP access and click on the Privilege Sets tab. Change Privilege Settings in FileMaker
  3. From here you will be provided with a list of different privilege sets and you will want to select the privilege set that you took note of on the previous screen and select "Edit". Edit Privilege Sets
  4. At this point you will be given the option to select the different ways that this privilege set can access the database. In order to allow IWP access select √ the privilege to allow "Access via Instant Web Publishing (fmiwp)".Select Web Access
  5. After updating these settings return to the login screen in your browser and input your credentials once again and continue following the steps provided above!
